Dr. Barbara Nelson
Dr. Barbara Nelson is passionate about individuals from various walks of life – those who are homeless, imprisoned, hospitalized, or living in underserved communities. She and her husband, Pastor Michael, live in Houston, TX, and are both licensed and ordained pastors.
They have two sons, one grandson, five God-children, and she’s a spiritual mother to many.
Dr. Nelson has been serving in ministry and community outreach for more than 30 years. She is also the Founder of Standing In Faith – Restoration & Re-Entry, an organization in Houston, TX, that provides wrap-around services to individuals just released from prison, returning home after the military, and recovering from homelessness. She is also the Co-Founder of Soldiers Outwardly Restoring Discipleship - The SORD Church with her husband. Dr. Nelson is on an unending quest to give and has initiated significant, positive change in communities and individuals through advocacy empowered by compassion.
Additionally, Dr. Nelson has been honored by several corporate and ministry platforms for her work in communities, churches, and social organizations such as the National and Independent Gospel Music Association “Ladies of Virtue Tea” in collaboration with The Rhythm of Gospel Music Awards. She has also been a featured contributor for the Monthly Prayer for Epitome Magazine. Her voice has been heard on many radio stations in her area.
Following her chapter, “From Rape to Restoration,” in this anthology project, Dr. Nelson will release her first solo book in 2022!
