Jacquelyn Santiago Nazario

Jacquelyn Santiago Nazario is the Chief Executive Officer of COMPASS Youth Collaborative and a Human Relations Commissioner for the City of Hartford. She is a champion for youth equity, a dynamic youth development trainer, and an advocate for youths living at risk. Jackie obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Trinity College in 2000 and her Master’s degree from Quinnipiac University’s School of Business in 2014. She is a national trainer in youth development practices and the seven executive functions of the brain.

Jackie currently serves on the Commission on Gun Violence Prevention and Intervention appointed by Speaker of the House Matt Ritter and sits on the Governor’s Workforce Council on Youth Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She advocates for and creates awareness about the best practices for working with youths impacted by the juvenile justice system and violence. A native of Lawrence, MA, Jackie had early experiences as many of the young people who inspire her today. She decided in high school that if she were lucky enough to go to college, she would do something to help children and their families succeed. She believes all youth will thrive when given the needed resources and opportunities to do so. 

Jackie was named one of Hartford Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2015 and 100 Women of Color in 2017. Other recognitions include Hartford’s Champion for Youth and Leadership Development award in 2018, the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s Champion of Justice Award in 2019, Trinity College’s 50 for the Next 50 Award, and the 2023 Latina Champion Award. Jackie is a loving mother of 1 biological child, two bonus children whom she loves like her own and a wife to her adoring husband, Iran Nazario.
