Lashonda Wofford

Lashonda Renee Wofford is a native of Goldsboro, NC. She is currently pursuing a degree as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. She is the Founder and Chief Administrator of Akins Helping Hands, a family-operated business providing in-home care to the elderly, and individuals requiring hands-on assistance with various activities of daily living as a result of illness.

She runs the business with her husband, who serves as CEO. Lashonda is also the founder of GRACE Community Outreach, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps feed and clothe the less fortunate, provides support for victims of childhood sexual abuse and their families, and provides support to individuals battling cancer.

She is a faithful member of Grace AME Zion Church in Raleigh, NC, where she has actively led the praise and worship team, and sung in multiple church choirs. Lashonda and her husband, Travis, have two children, and one grandchild.

Following her chapter, “Finding the Right Balance, Overcoming Obstacles and Being Obedient to God’s Will,” in this anthology project, Lashonda will be releasing a new book, Pain Equals Purpose in 2020.  In this book, she will share her personal story with her late husband David Akins and how God showed her purpose through her pain.
